Experience

Kent has twenty-eight years of experience in public accounting. Kent acquired a variety of experience by working with three local North Carolina firms before becoming a founding partner of Hughes Pittman & Gupton, L.L.P. in 1983. His practice focuses on providing management support and tax planning services to owner-managed businesses.

Kent has served as the business and tax advisor to clients in many industries including real estate, construction, software technology, retail, service, manufacturing, non-profit and others. He places his emphasis on business consulting, tax planning, tax compliance and taxation of mergers and acquisitions. During his career his responsibilities have included partner-in-charge of the tax department and of quality control. Kent is a member of the Firm's executive committee and is head of its real estate industry services team.
