RALEIGH, N.C. (February 13, 2019) ― Hughes Pittman & Gupton, LLP (“HPG”), a Triangle-based CPA firm serving the financial management needs of local, multistate, and international businesses, as well as their owners, is pleased to announce that Cathy Patton has assumed the role of Director of Process Risk and Governance (“PRG”).
Cathy has been leading the Firm’s PRG practice from both a technical and growth perspective and this new role is a recognition of those efforts. HPG’s PRG Practice provides risk management services, including Service Organization Control (“SOC”) attestation, as well as other advisory services designed to evaluate the reliability and design of a company’s internal policies, processes and procedures. Cathy will continue providing consulting on technical GAAP issues including initial GAAP conversions, revenue recognition and business combinations. Most recently, Cathy has been presenting on how to implement ASC 606, the new revenue recognition standards, and consulting with public and private companies on their implementations.

Cathy has worked with clients ranging from startup companies financed by private venture capital to public companies. She is a key member of the HPG Technology practice primarily serving software and software-as-a-service (“SaaS”) clients. Her experience includes SOC examinations and readiness consulting, financial reporting, business consulting, auditing and review services, as well as managing due diligence in mergers and acquisitions and the IPO process. Cathy’s consulting experience is focused on revenue recognition working with many startup technology companies on their initial GAAP implementation for financial reporting to investors and lenders or preparing for due diligence. She also has experience in other industries including life sciences, CROs, and professional services
Cathy has over 25 years of experience, including over 20 years of experience in public accounting and over five years of private industry experience. She was previously finance officer with Triangle Transit Authority. She started her career with Coopers & Lybrand in Columbia, South Carolina. She later moved to their Raleigh, North Carolina office where she served as an audit manager. She joined HPG in November 2004.
