RALEIGH, N.C. (August 14, 2009) Susan Martin, audit manager at Hughes Pittman & Gupton, LLP (www.hpg.com), the largest CPA firm headquartered and staffed in the Research Triangle Park region of North Carolina, has been named an at-large member of the United Arts Council of Raleigh & Wake County’s board of directors. Martin will serve a three-year term.
“Susan’s 13 years of accounting experience will be an added benefit to the United Arts Council,” says Eleanor Oakley, president and CEO of United Arts Council of Raleigh and Wake County Inc. “We are fortunate to have her bring her creativity and enthusiasm to our organization.”
To help the United Arts Council meet all their initiatives, Martin will assist with corporate and workplace campaigns, events and additional programs.
The United Arts Council of Raleigh & Wake County works toward building better communities through its continued support of the arts. Since 1990, the organization has raised more than $16 million to support and foster the arts throughout Wake County.
“It is a privilege to be selected to serve with this group of dedicated people,” adds Martin. “I am looking forward to a wonderful experience and the opportunity to help further the arts in the Triangle.”
In addition to her work on behalf of the United Arts Council, Martin also volunteers with the NathanCan Foundation, an organization that provides support and services to families with chronically ill patients. She also helps promote financial literacy through the Wakefield High School Business Alliance and serves as a volunteer coach for her son’s CASL team.
Martin continues a longtime relationship that Hughes Pittman & Gupton shares with the United Arts Council. Deborah Quay has served on its board of directors as treasurer, and on its executive committee; firm partner Dan Hughes has served on the board of directors’ executive and finance committees; and firm partner Tim Gupton has served as audit partner for the organization, as well as an ad hoc attendee of the finance committee.
