“Our team has diligently developed a culture of sustainability within the HPG office environment,” says Tim Naylor, HPG partner. “This has naturally progressed into the formation of the firm’s clean technology practice group to support our clients. We proudly stand next to organizations like CED and the SJF Institute as they search for sustainable practices that can improve energy efficiency and create alternative energy solutions.”

In 2010, HPG became the first accounting firm to be certified Green Plus by the Institute of Sustainable Development (, a nonprofit organization that strives to educate, motivate and recognize smaller enterprises for their efforts toward greater sustainability.

The firm has launched multiple initiatives to integrate sustainability into its culture, including staff-led recycling programs, Earth Day awareness events, green initiative boards, monthly green emails and green awards for staff members. In addition, HPG is using its green certification to mentor other companies on green initiatives. HPG has mentored several companies in 2011 and plans to expand its cleantech practice group and sustainability efforts throughout the year.

“Whether it’s a client or an organization we’ve just met, we are using our sustainability success to help open the door to a discussion on ways other companies can lessen their impact on the environment,” adds Naylor.
