HPG Hosts New RTP CFO Forum

RALEIGH, N.C. (May 17, 2010)   Hughes Pittman & Gupton, LLP (www.hpg.com), the largest CPA firm headquartered and staffed in the Research Triangle Park region of North Carolina, is sponsoring a new organization called the RTP CFO Forum (www.rtpcfos.com). This monthly gathering of senior financial professionals will serve as a brain trust for area financial executives to exchange knowledge and experience.

The RTP CFO Forum meets the first Friday of every month, from 7:30 a.m. – 9:00 a.m., at the Hughes Pittman & Gupton, LLP offices at 1500 Sunday Drive, Suite 300, Raleigh, North Carolina. The June 4 meeting topic will be: Alternative Funding Sources – Looking Beyond Traditional Bank Loans and Venture Capital.

“An important part of the RTP CFO Forum is providing a professional network to discuss real business ideas and issues in a confidential and informal environment,” says Bobby Bahram, member of the organizing committee and the CFO and COO for TransLoc Inc.

The RTP CFO Forum supports more than 200 senior financial executives in the greater Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill region. Membership in the forum is free and by invitation only. To request to join the group, please email join@rtpcfos.com.

The first meeting was on February 5, 2010 and addressed revenue recognition under the new Emerging Issues Task Force abstracts 08-01 and 09-03 issued by the Financial Accounting Standards Board. Over the past three months other topics discussed have included:

–  Mergers & Acquisitions: Process, Execution, Trends and Lessons Learned

–  Not Just Numbers: The Non-Financial Roles of the CFO

–  What’s in the News? Current Events Affecting Companies and Their Employees

Joining Bahram and Weishaupt-Smith on the organizing committee are CFOs Brett Farabaugh, Tryton Medical, Inc., and Chuck Osborne, Scynexis, Inc. HPG partners Heather Dean, CPA and Brooks Malone, CPA round out the organizers.
